As the Technical Director at the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), Mr. Goodwin is responsible for the managing the review and publication of over 70 standards. He also ensures the execution of numerous grants awarded to the ABYC Technical Department.

Mr. Goodwin actively liaisons with other key groups including NMMA, NASBLA, SAMS®, NAMS, NFPA, and SAE.

In addition to having a dual degree in biology/marine environmental science, Mr. Goodwin is a USCG Licensed Captain and has a broad range of marine industry experience including roles as a captain, dockmaster and navigation officer on a hydrographic survey vessel.

In partnership with NauticEd, De co-developed the first combined online knowledge and on-the-water practical training program for basic sailing education, which has set a new industry benchmark. NauticEd features an extensive e-learning theory curriculum for sailing knowledge coupled with practical on-the-water skills training programs facilitated via a global network of experienced instructors. To date, NauticEd has provided more than a quarter million sailing courses to students worldwide.

Grant Headifen is the Global Director of Education for NauticEd, a state-of-the-art sailing education organization featuring an e-learning theory curriculum for sailing knowledge and a practical on-the-water skills training program through a global network of instructors.
